Post by Wordpad » 13 Jan 2024, 10:43

“#Ethiopia insists they did not agree to recognise #Somaliland,” the diplomat said.

Abiy got his 5 mins of fame and Somalia's president also got credits to use for his re-election campaign . 8)

Abiy was testing the waters. He believed Somalia to be weak but was shocked Somalia turned into a lion. The international community sided with Somalia. Abiy Ahmed threatened with the prospect of going to war with Somalia and then becoming a regional war with Eritrea, Egypt and Turkey. Plus sanctions by the West. Abiy Ahmed is today just insisting that Ethiopia did not agree to recognise Somalia. That the whole thing is just a misunderstanding.

What really helped Somalia was FANO. The instability and disunity of Ethiopia and its shattered economy. 8)
Abiy wanted to galvanise all Ethiopians to unite to invade Somalia. But it never materialised. Ethiopian people especially Amhara want him out no matter what it takes.
