Abere - That’s not the case here.

In my opinion, threatening to forcefully close all higher educations in Amhara region is wrong specially if the purpose is to conscript the youth into the warfront. This wouldn’t be any different from TPLF’s archaic methodology that miserably failed a few years ago. First, there is no reason why Fano can’t continue to fight without disrupting schools. Second, forcing the youth to fight is counterproductive while there are millions out there who want to join the struggle voluntarily. Third, it’s morally wrong for the diaspora to stick their nose into this stance while their kids are comfortably attending college.

If the intent is to protect the public from an active shooting in a certain community, then all activities in that community will invariably be shut down whether a direction is given by a certain body or not.

I understand this a tough choice, but nothing is more precious than life. We have to first put ourselves in the shoes of the parents of these college students. If you had a child attending one of these universities in Amhara region, would feel safe to let your child go and attend but constantly worrying about his/her trapped in a crossfire or expect bad news of your child?
Look, it is those OLF rag tags who kidnapped 21 Amhara university girl students who are now roaming in Amhara region. Safety becomes first, family is first. No parent deserves to mourn the loss of its child. The odds of college students risking their lives is very high. It is a choice between life and career. And you know, especially today, college degree is less valued as I know many engineering students lost hope finding job a long time ago - given the poor quality of education and poor economic performance and growth.

If PP-OLF is concerned about education and human resource development, why does not it pull out of the region and create a safe learning environment?
