Where were you when Eritreans were fighting to get their independence from Ethiopia for ages and the latter was turning deaf ears to their protracted plight!

It's not fuc.king same. Eritrea was occupied and colonised by Ethiopia, while Somaliland is a province of Somalia and thus no one has ever said that Somalia is occupying or colonising one of its provinces.

Actually Eritrea and Somaliland both vowed to be United with Somalia and Ethiopia respectfully.
Eritrea choose to be part of Ethiopia as the unionist party wanted to be part of Ethiopia mostly supported by kebessa people who wanted to be with Haile sellasie. Somaliland on the other hand wishes also to be united with Somalia under the pretext of Somaliweyn it was also voluntarily , So Somaliman is right on this part that it was colonization . How ever Somaliland wasnt a colony of Somalia nor was it a province of Somalia it ment to unite with Somalia as unit of the Somali republic as it stated in the constitution and the act of union.

i think these mind set is what keeping Somalis divided and i dont think Somaliman is doing it on purpose but because Somalia is the largest part of the two it automatically is viewed as that if Somalia is the parent part when it couldnt be at all , Since Somaliland gainded first independence. This is BS. Ethiopia nor Melles voted or recognize Eritrea upon independence. It is true, Melles didn't opposed to the independence of Eritrea because it won't matter. If Eritrea was part of Ethiopia, you are right, Eritrea would need Ethiopia's permission and recognition. Since Eritrea never been part of Ethiopia, no need anything from Melles or Ethiopia. That is serious one evidence that Eritrea never been part of Ethiopia but colonized by Ethiopia. Economically dealing with Ethiopia is million times better for us compare to if we join Somalia. Both countries are shitholle today but Ethiopia growth forecast is very promising. In terms of security we know alshabaab Will eventually take over Somalia, and they can easily invade us if we don't have reliable strong allies.

We don't want to be brought back to the stone age in the name of religion or unproductive Somali nationalism. Somaliland is only looking after it's interests. As I mentioned earlier Somalia Has no choice but to accept somaliland independence before Ethiopia does. You have few days. If Ethiopia be the first, then no more Somalinimo between us.
