Renting a port for twenty years is dandy, paying
For it could be uncertain. Ethiopia recently failed servicing a pocket change of debt, how sure is Somali Land to sign on the Red Dot and be certain to receive its annual rental and services for the next twenty years on time ? Is there any third party guarantor such as perhaps a country like the Emirates. If Abiy’s government defaults what recourse does Somali Land has? Can Somali Land evict Abbiy’s government ? What if Ethiopia refuses ?

The worst is how can you lease a seaport (which is a real estate) for 50 years against shares of Ethiopian Airline, which can go burst and broke anytime, like any company.

They agreed to pay 50 to 80 million dollars a year , Ethiopia is like we pay 2 billion dollar 80 million is nothing thats what i heard from the sources from my contacts in addis ababaa in exchange they gave the authorities a share in the Ethiopian airlines. also Ethiopia will be allowed to have a naval base and Military on the sea. in Exchange they will recognize the Independence of Somaliland , Not Sure how this will play out, I presume , Somalia will protests and cut all ties with Ethiopia remove Amisom from Somalia. cut all ties with Ethiopia , urge the eac countries to make a bold statement kenya and uganda and all the others to side with Somalia. Somalia also has a card to use Egypt and bring Egypt in the indian ocean this will frighten Ethiopia. Somalia has allot of cards. Either way we cannot let Ethiopia to have a cheap access in Somalia , we will not allow it, Soon u will hear something new.

Somali man,
I was thinking the same way. If TWA, KLM and many other pillars of the air line industry can go bankrupt, state run EThiopian Airlines can go bankrupt any time. All it takes is some sort of aviation fuel shortage, a few deadly incidents, etc…….

Ethiopian airlines is premium. But somaliland has the option to get shares from the the Ethiopian telecom. The later is very potential. Somaliland is way ahead of Ethiopia when it comes to telecommunication. We can develop ethio telecom. Most Ethiopians are not exposed to technology. We have the experience and know how to turn it into profitable company.
