Abiy is well known for making inane remarks. For example, he said that Ethiopia will be one of two super-powers by 2050. He did not say who the second one will be! And now he is lecturing his flock about the benefits of digital Id. Like all semi-literate people, he knows the digital jargon but has no clue about the deeper issues. He pontificates about artificial intelligence instead of first developing the natural intelligence of his people so that they can feed themselves. Artificial intelligence is a job killer. Of what value can it be in a largely agrarian nation like Ethiopia where the unemployment rate is over 50%.

As for the digital ID, in developed countries, they have social insurance number which is a unique number assigned to each resident. It helps keep all sorts of records, and is most effective for tax purposes. Otherwise, it cannot by itself raise the gross domestic product (GDP). The only way to do that is by work and investment. As a TPLF apparatchik, Abiy picked a lot of half-formed notions which he is now regurgitating in an attempt to appear smart. But the more he babbles, the more he exposes his ignorance.

One has to have the IQ of a monkey to believe that just by assigning a unique ID to each resident, the GDP would grow by 7%. Why stop at assigning unique ID's.
