so you saying Ethiopia was left for not having strategic value?

Did Europeans scramble Africa for strategic value? I thought it was for resources.

Correct. I been telling you all, that Ethiopia was not colonized because it has no value to the then super power (fascist) countries. Actually still has no value to any power except to be a puppet or a slave.
That is just a fact.

What has been presented is a now-declassified top secret US State Department report on Ethiopia. Please forward it to Abiy Ahmed Ali. Translation service is available for free if anyone is interested. After all, I Yam my brother's Keeper. I Yam my sister's keeper.

It is mind-boggling for some Ethiopians to continue living by repeating stories that are based on ተረት፡ ተረት። Moreover, how can they honestly live in stories that have been proven over and over that their narration was FALSE?
Why can't they be happy with what they have and with who they are? Why keep on dreaming of nonexistent 3000 years of history, that they own the shores of the Red Sea, that their Haileselassie was a direct descendant of the "Solomonic Dynasty" through a rendezvous of King Solomon with the fictional Queen Sheba, that is also claimed by the equally delusional Arabs, that Ethiopia is the only country that has its "own" alphabet (ግዕዝ) (spelled ግእዝ in Tigrinya) in Africa, knowing full well that Geez was introduced in Eritrea before it spread down south.
The question again is why all this insecurity when they have a fake Empire that was built by invasion and conquering the southern peoples. Of course, the Ogaden was given to them by the equally criminal British Administration. What about Eritrea? Oh yea that just simply popped up from the Red Sea aka ባሕሪ ኤርትራ፡ and as sure as hell, it will remain so.

Standing against Abiy Ahmed is one thing, spreading false story is another. A propaganda piece is not a valid academic historic record. This is not the best route to win. ልጅ ለእናቷ ምጥ አስተማረች አይነት ነው። America as nation did not exist when Ethiopia was a country recoded in historic time. Ethiopia is one of the 5 ancient civilization of the world. ማን ያውራ የነበረ ማን ያርዳ የቀበረ እንድሉ was America there in the 7th, 6th, 9th, 11th etc. century in written world history? It is a very conspicuous fact and recorded history Ethiopia had been the gate way to Africa. That was why all aggressors tried several times in history got defeated. Ethiopians are known by them as warlike people. እያንዳንዱ ወራሪ ኢትዮጵያን ሞክሯል ግን ጥሩስ እያረገፉ ኢትዮጵያዊያን መልሰውታውል። All inches and corners of Africa , be central, coastal, barren or fertile etc. invaded and colonized, but all invaders kicked out by patriot Ethiopians. Do not use unscientific and public relation stunt. All countries on planet earth land locked or sea access had been colonized and are still neo-colonized. Sea does not necessarily guarantee development. If sea coast guarantees so Bangladesh and many Latin Americans would have taken the front row seat. You may have a much better valid point or source to refer to than a public relation propaganda piece.

A convicted thief sitting in a jail cell and actively bragging about the items he had stolen without remorse or guilt, is beyond redemption, and deserves to be locked up for life and throw away the key.

skunni Fiyameta,

We don't see our neighbours in this forum. No Sudanese works hard here. No Kenyan and no Somali and Djibouti (except the agame zack who pretends to be from Djibouti). If you are so much invested in Ethiopia, you are part of Ethiopia   Your photoshop editor is testimony to that.

Eversince FANO restored the land of Welkait to Amhara, your Tigray no longer shares a border with Sudan, therefore Sudanese are not your neighbors.

It's an interesting read, however, they misused the word "Ethiopia", Somali State, which is the largest state in resourceless and politically unstable Ethiopia, is well endowed with a range of minerals, oil and natural gas, not to mention a commercially enviable location on the globe, the Somali ocean.

they concluded their secret article that was declassified in part in 2012.
  • If Eritrea should succeed in freeing itself from Ethiopian rule, it is doubtful if it could last for many years as an independant political unit. There is little sense of national unity.
  • If the strength of the Ethiopian Government were such that it could not hold Eritrea and its coastline, its strategic value could conceivably revert to the insignificance that has protected it throughout so much of its history.
Very interesting indeed.

☆ ★ ✮ ★ ☆ Dear Abiy Ahmed Ali, the 7th king of Abyssinia,☆ ★ ✮ ★ ☆

When 6 European powers, namely Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal established control over most of Africa starting in the 1800's, which became known as "The Scramble for Africa," Italy was then a collection of several kingdoms and city-states, before it became a unified country in 1861 that developed an appetite for a piece of the African pie.

As a late-comer to the "Scramble for Africa" game, the newly-formed Italy's options were limited to territories that were less attractive to the other European powers, except for the coastal nations of Eritrea and Somalia that were controlled by the Khedivate of Egypt until Great Britain invaded Egypt and abolished the Khedivate, creating an opportunity for Italy to take control over these two nations with significant geographical positions on the Red Sea and the Indian ocean.

Both England and France that controlled most of Africa were unsettled by the emergence of Italy on the African scene, especially Italy's expansion into Libya was seen by England as a threat to its control over Egypt and the Suez Canal, but the two great European powers were not interested in going to war with Italy over fears that it could ignite a world war in Europe. Hence, they devised a proxy war in East Africa by supplying arms and logistics to an Abyssinian king who used human-wave attacks against the 15,000 Italian colonial forces stationed in Tigray so as to humiliate Italy and spread its forces thin. It worked!

It worked, well until the Second Italo-Ethiopian War when two hundred thousand Italian soldiers invaded Abyssinia and colonized the landlocked country for 6 years. Britain in control of the Suez Canal, cut off the Italian forces in Abyssinia, Eritrea and Somalia from getting supplies and reinforcement from Italy, and the allied forced led by British colonial forces in Kenya and Sudan were able to push the Italian forces out of these territories, which concluded with Italy's surrender to the allied colonial forces in 1941.

The self-crowned 7th king is watching Kenya's Ruto eating his lunch while he's too busy lecturing his captive audience about non-existent things. How old is he again? :P :P
