Worrying words from Germany: "We have no alternative"

Post by Halafi Mengedi » 10 Dec 2023, 21:29

The Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, General Carsten Breuer, has expressed serious concerns over the escalating threat from Russia and underscored the need for actionable measures. "This should worry us all," he stressed.

In an interview with the German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung", General Breuer amplified his concerns about Russia's growing military might - a phenomenon he believes should not only alarm the military, but the entire society.

"I am troubled by how rapidly Russia is amassing weapons and the stance Putin is taking. This should scare us all, but most importantly we need to turn these fears into action now," he urged the German military.

He reiterated his worry over the mounting risks from Russia and emphasized the need for strategized actions to counteract these dangers.

Situation is tense
General Breuer sees no prospects for a return to the pre-2022 status quo when Russia invaded Ukraine. "We must start getting used to the idea that one day we may have to wage a defensive war(...)" Breuer stated. "His words hint at an international situation on the brink of tension, which could force defensive action shortly."

Breuer also highlighted the necessity to brace for new technological challenges and a more aggressive hybrid war. "We have to prepare for technological advancements and an intensifying hybrid war. Recognizing the threat is the first step. It's not only us soldiers, but the entire society must acknowledge the need for even stronger deterrence," Breuer asserted.

He believes that the public should be conscious of the growing dangers and the need for action to counteract these threats.
General Breuer also pointed out shortcomings in the readiness of German armed forces for national and allied defense. "We see now a Bundeswehr that is not yet sufficiently prepared for this," the general said. He discussed "structures that make rapid and focused decisions nearly impossible". He explained how the Bundeswehr's years-long focus on international crisis management is now becoming an issue when the alliance and national defense are once again in the spotlight.

When questioned on whether the Bundeswehr could handle a potential assault from Russia on NATO following the war in Ukraine, Breuer emphatically responded, "Yes, absolutely. We have no other choice. We can defend ourselves, and we will defend ourselves". His words imply that German forces are committed to defending their nation and allies, despite the potential challenges they may face.

The British Ministry of Defense has reported a likely initiation of a renewed, more coordinated offensive by Russia intended to destroy Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The offensive consists of heavy bombers, presumably Tu-95s, taking off.

The daily intelligence update forwarded by the ministry suggests that the Russian air forces launched a series of attacks on Kyiv and central Ukraine. They employed a fleet of heavy bombers, marking the first such attacks since September 20, which occurred during the night of December 7 to 8 Eastern Time.

Russia deploys Tu-95 bombers
The aircraft employed by the Russians are thought to be Tu-95s (NATO code: Bear H). These planes can reach altitudes of up to 44,291 feet and maintain flight for up to 14 hours without refueling, boasting a range of roughly 6,525 miles. Powered by four Kuznetsov NK 12 turboprop engines, with each providing 14,993 foot-pounds of force, the Tu-95 can reach maximum speeds of 515.729 miles per hour.

The Tu-95 serves as the principal armament of Russian strategic aviation. According to British reports, during the last attack, at least 16 cruise missiles (ALCM) were launched, fired from their typical base over the Caspian Sea.

Destructive AS-23a missiles
The utilized missiles are presumed to be the AS-23a (NATO code: Kodiak), recognized as Russia's top-range ALCMs. Previous warnings indicate that Russia is likely stockpiling these missiles in preparation for their winter campaign. Each missile of this type weighs up to 5291 lbs and measures almost 24.6 feet in length. Capable of carrying a warhead that weighs 1058 lbs, these missiles can target locations about 2.8 miles away.
"This appears to be the beginning of a more coordinated Russian campaign to degrade Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Preliminary reports, however, suggest that a majority of these missiles were successfully intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses. Though it's reported that one civilian casualty occurred, the damage at this point seems minimal," the British stated in an intelligence update.

Natalia Humeniuk, a spokesperson for Ukrainian forces in the south, reported in November that Russians are amassing significant stocks of various missile types in Crimea. This action is also interpreted as a precursor to heightened attacks during the winter period.

Halafi,
Crazy Tigrie. The West created this unnecessary tension by marching to the Russians door steps.
Don’t worry, the Germans knows the Russians very well. If needed they will send a message to Hitler in heaven and ask him how he killed himself, the French can do the same to Napoleon, and the British can do the same to Wellington. And the US can consult with history how the French, the German and British empires faltered.
