The first time I heard the phrase "ተረኛ መንግስት" was in 2012, when TPLF cadres such as eden/Sarcasm tried to justify the appointment of HaileMariam Desalegn to the premiership.

At that time, I was perplexed by their callousness which I feared could have far reaching consequences for the country, and arguably forever alter its governance standards and framework.

I'm afraid the same theory is also espoused by the child-like Abiy Ahmed and his cronies -- collectively known as TPLF's protégé.

በተረኝነት ስርዓት መንግስት የምትመራ ሀገር የእርስ በርስ ጦርነት አውድማ ትሆናለች። በጦርነቱም ትወድምና ተረት ሆና ትቀራለች። True or False?

Hailemariam was groomed to be a political heir of Meles by Meles himself. The TPLF politicians had believed if the Oromos or Amharas who constitute roughly sixty percent of Ethiopians come to power, it might be difficult to dislodge either of them from power. They appointed Hailemariam with so many TPLFites appointed to be his handlers, practically breathing down on his neck. There was a rumor he could not go to Menilik palace restroom without their approval. That was then. Now, you might say the TPLF ancient politicians fear might have materialized.
