Defence Minister Abraham Belay, a Tigrean, says WelQait and Raya are to be again under Tigrean occupation;

Post by Za-Ilmaknun » 22 Aug 2023, 12:04

The OPDO government vowed to dissolve the current Welqayit administration" in the area run by the Amharas, potentially risking a further backlash from former allies in the country's 2020-2022 civil war.

Defence Minister Abraham Belay's comments are the government's clearest to date on its plans for the disputed territory, fertile farmlands to place under Tigrean occupation.

The remarks are likely to fuel Amhara complaints that federal authorities have turned their backs on Amharas, whose forces captured the lands while providing military support to the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) against rebellious Tigrayan forces.

His statement makes no difference. What makes difference actually is the Amhara people. Non-Amhara and anti-Amhara people or party or group can say anything and keep salivating. They will not see any solution. The key is in the Amhara people's hand.

It is bad again for the Tigray people to go into war that will never have an end.

The OPDO gov't has exhausted all its forces and now dragging TPLF once again to the war. This heralds the last stage of the war where all amhara people will fight against TPLF and OPDO forces. This is the very critical stage of the war and the sunset of the aparthied politics of the last 50 plus years. Amhara and Ethiopian forces will definitely conclude the war triumphantly.

We have been saying all along that this is the master plan of the PP regime.
It is going to be a long and grinding war that will ultimately defeat these two poisonous organizations.
That would be a huge mistake by PP & TPLF and a god send opportunity for Ethiopians.
Don’t let Abiye Ahmed Ali the leftist escape Ethiopia with his life.

He is the same village idiot who was sending bombers after bombers to destroy Tigray killing a million Tigrayans.
Only idiots will follow and die for him to save Abiy Ahmed's collapsing power.

I didn't listen to the said statement or remark by Defense Minister, Dr. Abraha Belay, but in case it is true that he hinted or even stated that the two areas will be given back to Tigray, then more than the giving back the timing should be more profound, in my view.

Is the timing meant to mean that "we are already losing the war against Amhara extremists and it makes no difference to keep silent any more"?

Or, is it an announcement of "we have crushed them already"?

Please help us out here?

This is that moment we have been waiting for. More than the OPDO militia, it s the confused amhara militia and polices remnants who are becoming menace to the fanos. The statement by the TPLF leadership, Abreha Belay, will only help create that unity some diahard ADP militias seem to hve been lacking.

TPLF isn't mindless like ODP and jumps in to the ring fully knowing that they have no chance of wining the war and keep those lands under Tigre occupation. TPLF would rather step back and look at their tormentor, Abiy Ahmed, suffer the greatest loss and be chased out of his unbecoming power.

If wishes were horses.... It has now been almost 6 months since Birhanu the Jella and Abeba the bands declared war to exterminate the Amhara people. The few weeks you are looking forward to have come and gone..with so much OPDO militias turned to POS and ashes. Fano accomplished the unimaginable with only one week of fight. I am confidently telling you and your ilk that the end of the fascist OPDO regime is very very close.

I don’t think the TPLFites are that idiots to die for Abiye Ahmed.
Regardless they will all lose against Ethiopia.

Defence Minister Abraham Belay's comments are the government's clearest to date on its plans for the disputed territory
The Federal Government's position on on territorial integrity of Tigray has always been clear and consistent with the constitution of the country. There were no changes or ambiguity before, during and after the conflict.

- return to status quo ante pre-November 3, 2020. That has been the consistent position of the Federal government before, during and after the War on Tigray. The Defense Minister during the start of the war, Dr Kenea Yadeta, said the war cannot be used by some forces as a window of opportunity to redraw federally recognized legal border. He said the following on the first few days of the war before even the Federal Forces enter Mekelle, the Capital of Tigray:

Could any government be clearer and more direct than that?

You seem to have skipped the very core of why we all are in current mess we are in. The constitution that you are so deeply committed to, lables the amhara people as enemy, denies them representation and is serving as a legal petext for mass genocide and displacement. I remember once you said " there was going to be discussion between OPDO and TPLF and, even ADP the servant wouldn't be invited to the table ". Perhaps you spoke out of arrogance and the ill attitude that you are made to develop because of the last 50+ years of identity politics.

The Amhara territories which had been under TPLF occupation were annexed before even the fake constitution came to be. So, this nullifies the legal or constitutional argument that you are presenting to support your unfortunate presumptions. OPDO is trying to use the Tigre people in its fight aganist Amhara. The war is intensifying and fano is destoying the OPDO militias one after another. I am sure TPLF is waiting it out to see the two sides devour each other   and finally crash whoever is coming as the weak winner and claim the throphy. In as much as this is a smart move, it fails to take in to consideration why the Amhara people are fighting angist the tribal gov't in the first place. So, if you think paying amillion souls isn't enough, nothing could hold you back. Otherwise, no amount of force is good enough to subjugate the amhara for they have the just causes and the other alternative is a complete annihilations by TPLF/OLF.

For the record, here is what the Defense Minister said in public, that I came across today:

- displaced citizens should return to their homes (it shouldn't have lasted this far, they are citizens too)
- there will be a referendum to decide the future of the contested areas (I think nothing can be more sound and objective)
- unlawful administerations will be dismantled, ASAP. In fact what is illegal should be brought back to what is legal, universal norm, in my view.

So, what is the uuuuuuuuutaaaaaaaa, here too?

Ethiopia aims to end 'illegal administration' in disputed territory

DDT,

People are NOT inputs for fraduelnt statistics. Also, according to whose constitution is that? If there were any displaced people these are most likely from towns, not from farmlands (farmers) unlike what happened in Wollega. I am sure most of them(town residents) already returned, unless committed crime.
