Axum was an empire with so many ethinic groups under it . Read Ezana's stone prescriptions. However , the Tigrayans at both sides of the Mereb were it's nucleus. The Arch of covenant is undoubtedly in Axum ( I myself met the Guardian of the Ark few years ago ).
