Really? Can you tell us, specifically, with actual proof from abiy himself (videos?), what he said about these groups, such as fano, amara liyyu hayl, eritrea, etc?

Otherwise, this seems like speculation and wishful thinking. Like any other government, especially in Africa, he is going after a group that he perceives to be a threat to his power. The same thing he did in Oromia and Tigray, he is doing/or wanting to do, in Amara region.
He wants to save his PP party both, in oromia and in amara, from nationalist movements that wish to take over the regional govt(s) (fano/eskinder's party in amara, and OLA in Oromia).

Great analysis- your last paragraph is not far from truth unless Abby tamed this situation soon enough before it escalates to dangerous path- that is where PIA comes to the picture! Aby is now seeing the writings on the wall! His best chance is to resolve his issues with Amharas and go back to subduing Oromo nationalists and sing again the emama Ethiopia anthem and spread the idea of unity- the factor that garnered him support of the Amharas in his early years of power!
