የእንደርታ ተወላጅ ምሁራን
፣ "ትግራይ የሚባል ማንነት ፣ ክልል ወይም ብሔር ብሔረሰብ የለም። አልነበረምም።"
Rough Translation
Through out history, there was never a region called "Tigray." However, there used to be a small village within Adwa named Tigray.
Any person over the age of 55 in present-day Tigray, whenever they hear the name Tigray, they automatically assume that its about the small village in Adwa, because until the TPLF came into existence, most people in the northern part of Ethiopia have never identified themselves as Tigrayans, but as Endertans, Agame, Tembien, Aksum, Shire ...etc. For instance, when the older generation hear news about "Tigray," their minds wander to the small village in Adwa and say a little prayer for its inhabitants.
The idea of creating a region called "Tigray" was first introduced by a small group of criminals from Adwa who developed a toxic level of inferiority complex towards Eritreans, that the criminals decided to create their own region and name it after the small village in Adwa where they hailed from, hence the fictitious name Tigray.
In the Geez language, the name "Tigray" means ሓኾረ, or ወደ ተራራ ወጣ (Climbed), in reference to the people who inhabit the rugged and inhospitable mountainous areas of Adwa.
When these mountain-dwellers of Adwa saw a country called Eritrea across their northern border, their envy hit fever pitch as they started dreaming about "Abay Tigray Republic" which they sought to implement by annexing Eritrean and Amhara territories, even if it means they become mercenaries for foreign powers to achieve it, or as we learned later, even if it means sacrificing 1.5 million young Endertans, Tembenians, Agamenians, Aksumians, Shirenians, etc. (Rest In Peace)

I am a layperson about the local identities in Tigray. However, I have wondered for a while now about the meaning of the word ትግራይ። Reading the word ሓኾረ now as its meaning in Geez, in case this meaning is true, made me wonder about it more. Does anyone know if the words ሓኾረ and ራዕይ have anything in common at all?

ሓኾረ means to climb. For example, ባለ ራዕዩ ጦጣ አንበሳን ሲያይ ደንግጦ ዛፍ ላይ ወጣ

Can you be serious about the meaning of this simple word? Is ሓኾረ a real word? If so, does that mean ሓኾረ has a similar meaning to ኮራ or ኮሬ? I am asking the question seriously in pursuit of knowledge.

I still wonder about the meaning of the word ሓኾረ, if it really means climb. I wished to verify the meaning because I can not speak Tigrigna; I wish I could. The basic question that I have is if ሓኾረ has anything in common with ኮሬ and ኮርቻ።
Assuming that the definition given is authentic, I think it opens a wide door for research into ancient culture in the region and beyond. If ሓኾረ and ኮሬ have a similar meaning, then it goes without saying that ሓኾረ/ኮሬ and ራኤ are naturally አበርት or associated. I remember reading on this forum that ራኤ in Tigrigna has the same meaning as ራዕይ in Amharic.
Take it from there and ask what ራዕይ the Axum ሃዉልት is showing or is meant to show, how circumcision became part of the display. Circumcision is one of the things that Moses took to Israel and introduced there following the Exodus and became one of the crucial evidences that he was in fact an Egyptian Pharaoh in his previous life as a leader. This is not my assertion but the conclusion that Sigmund Freud reached.
So, could ሓኾረ/ኮሬ and ራኤ/ራዕይ become very important clues to understanding the region's ancient history much better? Who was asking for enlightenment just recently on this forum?
