The independent investigation by UN and Transitional Justice are both mandatory & complementary !

Post by Axumezana » 22 Mar 2023, 03:06

If the Ethiopian government is serious about the Transition Justice , crimes committed and accountability have to be established by an independent party. Suspected perpetrators of the war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the Ethiopian government and its allies are not expected and have no intention of uncovering the truth due to obvious conflict of interest. Even the transition Justice System & body established in Ethiopia should not be the last body to serve justice and there should be an exit / appeal clause to take the case by the victims to an international court like the ICC, if they
victims decide justice is not served.

"The International Commission on Ethiopia, the only independent probe into the two-year conflict which pitted Ethiopia's army against forces in the northern Tigray region, has already found reasonable grounds to believe that all parties have committed war crimes.

Ethiopian human rights activist Yared Hailemariam told DW that "the crimes being investigated are those that require an international court. When the most serious human rights violations are committed in any country, the violations will be investigated by independent experts and organizations."
