The Million Dollar Question: Is there life after death for Tigrayans?

Post by sesame » 13 Mar 2023, 21:51

It is a question that Tigrayans are not asking themselves: What are the contours of their future, socially, politically, economically, etc? It is a fact often witnessed in history that after a devastating defeat, unless very able leaders emerge, the society disintegrates as poverty, lawlessness and recriminations explode. It is obvious that Tigray does not have qualified leaders to manage the enormous challenges of their post-defeat journey. It has taken so far over 5 months to form a transitional government that will govern for a year. In the meantime, Tigray descends into lawlessness were audacious gangs rob and kill at will. To add to their miseries, Tigrayans have incurred the hatred of all their neighbours who are sure to exact heavy punishments on them. How can free trade routes be established with the Afars, Amharas and Eritrea?

And then you have the incompetent Abiy who could and should have taken matters into his hands and brought peace to Tigray. His mis-management of the situation has worsened conditions and Tigrayans in particular and Ethiopians in general are paying and will continue to pay a heavy price for his blunders!
