You are right there is no point to falsely claim this language is the father and that one the child, especially where both languages are alive. Tigrigna is not a dead language is dead, neither Amharic is. For what serious weakness is one language dying and another new language emerging?

You must be foolish. A language that ranks being the 2nd largest spoken Semitic language came after the language spoken some margin. Amharic is not only the most spoken but the oldest. The question does Amhara fathered Tigrigna and Tigrayit and yet these languages end up infertile, spoken very few people?
