That is an excellent question and excellent observation.

In just one life time, Eritrean colonels and shalaqas have helped free one country (Eritrea) and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of two countries (Eritrea & Ethiopia). They deserve to be made generals, and it is difficult to understand why they are made to remain colonels and shaleqas in their 60s and 70s. But Eritrean people are patient and loyal to a fault, and you wouldn't hear anyone of them complaining about that, although it wouldn't have been too much to ask.

This is what I would like to ask Isaias one of these days, why are our colonels and shambels not being made generals? They have freed one country against all odds and protected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of two countries in just one life time, what more is being expected of them, Mr President? I'd like to ask him that.

Yes, Eritrea has more than qualified military officials that deserve the title you mentioned.......Eritrea has also mothers who sacrificed their multiple children for Eritrea....Eritrea is home to many who left Ivy league Universities and comfortable lives in the west/home and sacrificed for that land.....Eritrea is home to millions of youth who have mortgaged their future for the future of the nation......What is the reward for all these?

That is how most Eritreans approach your question- from the concept of TOTALITY. If you're not familiar with the concept, it simply means sacrificing some parts of your body to maintain the whole, eg removing your molar tooth for your jaw to have a better flexibility. Similarly, at a society level, taking the social structure and historical context of that specific society into account would help in seeing things a bit clearer and in better understanding why things are the way they're.

It looks to me that, global and continental super powers have earned the freedom to make their own choices, rather than others dictating the ranking titles of their military.

That is well and good, and very true. But heroes should also be empowered while alive, not just after they die. We need more empowered heroes and personalities while still alive. Many months ago, I don't remember who, someone here wrote that General Abrahaley Kifle, a person admired by many, was sidelined by Isaias. I don't know if that is true, but I want people like Sibhat Efrem, Abrahaley Kifle and many others to have a platform of their own, independent of Isaias. Eritrea is a great country and needs many great people, whether martyred or still alive. There is room for everybody.

For instance, during the Emiye /Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia there were thousands of Ethiopians that sacrificed and defeated Fascist Italy, but some are remembered most than the tens of thousands of them. The ranks and titles of few are selectively hold eternal in the minds of the generation and regarded as Champions of freedom of the Black Race.

አበራ፣ የትኛው ፍትሃዊ እና ጥንቃቄ የጎደለው ጥያቄ እንደሆነ ይገባኛል እናም በጣም የተመሰገነ ነው። በአፍሪካ ያለው ችግር ሁሉም ሰው ሹመት ወይም ወንበር ወይም ሽምግልና ይፈልጋል ነገር ግን ያንን ሹመት ወይም ቦታ ካገኙ በኋላ ኢጎአቸው ወደ ውስጥ መግባት ይጀምራል እና ትህትናን ያቆማሉ። ይህ ሊሆን ይችላል የኔ ኤርትራ ለወታደር መሪዎቻችን ሽምግልና ለመስጠት የማትፈልግበት ዋና ምክኒያት ሊሆን ይችላል፡ በርግጥ ከኤርትራ ጀግኖች ጀነራሎች ወይም ኮሎኔሎች በላይ ማንም ሰው ይህንን የፊልድ ማርሻል ሹመት አይገባውም ነገርግን እንጠብቅ እና እንየው ከአሁን ጀምሮ ክፋቱ አሸባሪ-tplf አልቋል በኤርትራ ወታደራዊ ማዕረግ ላይ ምን አይነት ለውጥ እንደሚመጣ እናያለን።
