I have carefully listened to the grand concept economic city. As you all know Abiy Ahmed loves grand plans and imaginations. Do you remember what he told us about united Africa led by Ethiopia, the grand Mombasa vision, vision, vision! The Chaka City, this mega economic zone and that?! The Mojo concept (by the way Mojo used to be called Badeke ባደቄ when Gragn invaded the region & ሞጆ ወንዝ ባደቄ ወንዝ ይባል ነበር) is a 40 year looooooog term plan with expected delays and extensions, it is a 100 year plan.

And this imaginary city will be erected on Addis Djibouti trade route simply becoming an extension of the centuries old trade route going back the days Barara and beyond. In 50 years everything changes. In 50 years Ethiopia has changed 4 systems of government. To those who can't see farther than their nose, time is a stationary static reality.

Here is my prediction. In 50 years the booming trade routes and growth corridors will Ethio-Somali Coasts and multiple Somali ports and Ethio-Eritrea trade routes and multiple Eritrean ports not the little Djibouti. Like most African elephant grand projects it will be replanned, redesigned and altered into something different.

So, I wouldn't waste too much brain time arguing about its real impact on realities that will emerge 50 or 80 years from today. Consider the little industrial park of Sidama, most its factory workers are laid off as the consequence a brief political change between Ethiopia and USA.
