I'm tired of our diplomats and their endless cries about African solutions for African problems and that we don't want the west to interfere in our affairs. Whether you like it or not these westerners will interfere with Ethiopia but our diplomats aren't smart enough in ensuring that the interest of Ethiopia is respected.

Take for instance: Gerd negotiations:

Ethiopian government should have told the Americans that they will sign a deal on GERD only if Ethiopia is provided with $2Billion military aid annually so that it can upgrade its armed forces up to Egyptian standards. That's what I mean by going from defense to offense - Don't cry about ferenjis but rather offer them possible solutions which respect Ethiopia's interest.


Right now with TPLF: The Americans want a peace deal - Tell the Americans that you will sign a peace deal with TPLF if Ethiopia's territorial integrity is respected and Ethiopia is provided with $2B annual in defense. - Make sure to have a binding legal agreement between Ethiopia-United States and then between Ethiopia-TPLF.

Do we have competent diplomats to start with? In a system where diplomats are selected because of their ethnic background and their loyalty to the TPLF manifesto, how could one possibly complain about persistent failures of diplomacy to favor the country? The citizens diplomacy that seemed to garner some results following the NoMore movement was seen as a threat to the ruling party and made to be aborted prematurely. It is the political system and what it is geared to maintain that is leading the crisis to be going from worse to disaster.
