Well back in the days, you could see it coming. Every narrative was so polemic and left no room for dignified and civil discourse. My beef was the very objective I was being told. I remember what one of those gullible young men told me how Mao's China avoided a single death from starvation during a 5-year serious and widespread drought strait. He told me not a single Chinese missed one of his three daily meals. The problem for about that was my British teacher used to get journals and periodicals published in Hong Kong and Singapore in the early 1960's. In those publications there were numerous accounts by those who managed to escape. They were telling horror stories of mass starvations in which millions were dying. That was corroborated by the commies themselves later on after Mao died and during the trials of the Gang of Four.
