Why is Debrezion leaving to South Africa?

Post by Mesob » 24 Oct 2022, 00:57

At this moment when Tigray and Tigrayans are in what the TPLF called "life and death struggle", why is the President of the regional state of Tigray abandoning Tigray to travel to South Africa while the war is raging.
First of all, the talks in South Africa is merely preliminary-talks to begin the search for peace. For this Debrezion could have followed the discussion using his satellite phone from a distance just to put his amendments on the final communique. For this he does not need to abandon the most serious issue at home -- the war.
The issue in South Africa could have been dealt with by the likes of Ambassador Berhane Gebrekristos, Getachew Reda and the many well experienced Tigrayan diplomats.
Debriz traveling to South Africa at this moment when Tigray has lost its leverage to twist Abiy Ahmed's arms is a very bad decision and very bad omen for Tigray.
I suspect there is something very bad coming. The rumor mills running around is that

To me the leader of Tigray leaving to South Africa, in the name of "talks in South Africa", is like the Chief of Staff of the army shirking his responsibilities.
If the Ethiopian Airforce exploits this scenario by throwing paper leaflets to the TDF all over Tigray that Debrezion, General Tsadqan, Getachew Reda and many others have left Tigray to seek asylum to Canada, just the way Mengistu Hailemariam did in 1991 to Zimbabwe, or similar messages by the Asmara radio broadcast, imagine the confusion this creates to Tigraian TDF army.
I tell you Debriz should never have left, instead he should have stayed input to encourage his army, telling them he will fight like Atse Yohanes and ready to give his head.
