The AU letter says the talks would be facilitated by AU special envoy and former Nigerian President Olesegun Obasanjo with the support of former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and former South African Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.

A support role can also be overtaken by many others, not that critical.

What is the purpose of the talks in the first place?

The letter from the chair of the AU Commission says the AU-convened talks would be “aimed at laying the foundation for a structured and sustained mediation” between the two sides toward a “durable resolution of the conflict.”

In a simple english that you and I could also understand the foundation will be laid down this year, the peace agreement will be reached next year, that is why there is no whatso ever "precondition".

Many might regard as if Uhuru Kenyatta wanted rescheduling because he encountered a clash in his schedule. This is not true. Under the sky of Africa there is no HIGH priority task than stopping a conflict that has killed millions of lives. The level of excuse given by Uhuru Kenyatta is too silly, not even a five year believes him. But there are things either of which are likely reasons:

1) Uhuru Kenyatta is pressing AU to get more precondition details from TPLF. He is working hard to create a favorable term of negotiations for TPLF;

2) Uhuru chose to resign and quit from such duty because a) he already has a tarnished image of legally tried for ethnic cleansing in Kenya and does not again to be associated in any way with the two genocidal thugs of Ethiopia b) He realized this negotiation is doomed to fail, the parties that should be on the negotiation tables are not there at all. It is like churning water into [deleted]. And the result, impossible!
