There are conflicting views. We can’t be certain who’s behind this bold move so let’s look at motives:

Some say Abiy wants (independent) Fano dissolved or weakened so he can easily control the region via ANDM/ Special forces. This is advocated by Seyum Teshome, Sisay Agena, Temari, Sam Ebalalew.

Others say Isayas wants Fano that only directly works with Asmera, bypassing Addis. This is shared by Dr Dagnachew, Menen Haile and Tog Wajale.

Maybe we’ll know soon but for now it’s a guessing game. My guess is that if he stays in Bahirdar, it’s Isayas that called the shots. If relocated to Addis or south of Addis, it’s Abiy who is behind it.

p.s. There are those who want independent Fano like Gobeze Sisay, Meskerem Abera, Misraq and Abere. I don’t agree on everything they say but they seem to be principled.

Didnt Gen Tefera mamo get released in Bahir Dar? And wasnt he arrested in Addis?

It seems mysterious that zemene kassie went to bahir dar all alone without fano or any army. It seems like he is only a chairman/house-speaker for fano but he himself not fano he voluntarily got himself arrested.

The snake Eden does what real snakes do!!! How about leaving that to the people of Amhara and you worrying about your people, the people of Tigray??
