UN |FOOD AS A WEAPON OF WAR: From 23 Aug Ethiopian Gov. has blocked access to aid trucks on Semera - Mekelle route

Post by sarcasm » 08 Sep 2022, 19:35

In Tigray Region, humanitarian supplies for humanitarian operations had been steadily flowing in August until the deterioration of the security situation. As a result, 218 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies, including 196 trucks carrying fertilizers could not make their way through the Semera - Mekelle route. More specifically on fertilizers, agriculture partners were making good progress to deliver more than 19,000 MT of fertilizer into Tigray by the end of August 2022, but due to recent developments, only 10,868.5 MT of fertilizers reached destination. The last humanitarian convoy to enter Tigray before the interruption was the humanitarian convoy on 23 August consisting of 158 trucks with humanitarian and operational supplies.

The United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) flights, which had been flying between Addis Ababa and Mekelle twice per week and had recently announced the organization of a third weekly flight, have also come to a halt since 26 August.

Similarly, humanitarian operations in hard-to-reach areas In Amhara Region, such as in parts of Wag Hemra were put on hold due to security concerns. Also in Amhara, as news spread about violence reportedly nearing Woldiya City, IDPs in Jara site located some 50 kilometers from Woldiya, the capital of North Wollo Zone, have spontaneously started to leave the site since 30 August, making a treacherous journey on foot in search of safety. Jara site had been sheltering more than 30,000 IDPs for the past six months. Humanitarian partners are assessing the situation to ensure continuation of basic assistance, including provision of protection support, wherever the IDPs settle.

Isn't it rich that Agames expect to be fed while they unleash wars. It is this idiotic sense of entitlement that needs to be crushed once and for all. Do they imagine that anyone owes them anything. There should be no food aid until the TPLF thugs surrender or are eliminated and Tigray is disarmed.
