In general, I find viewing images of mutilated bodies distasteful. Most of the dead bodies are recognizable to their loved ones and I shudder to think what goes through the mind of a poor Tigrayan when he/she views the mangled body of a loved one. But evil as it is, it is necessary to show the pictures to bring home to Tigrayans the ugly consequences of their irrational belligerence. No one should love war for its own sake. Death is not a joke and Tigrayans should know more than anyone else the pain of war. But, somehow, they forget their miserable past and scoff at the desirability of peaceful coexistence with their neighbors. The constant need to prove that they are a superior race is what is getting them into the horrible situation they are in. Societies that refuse to live by rules eventually do so when they are crushed. And Tigrayans need to be defeated unequivocally so that they renounce violence in the future. It is for their own good. The Germans had to learn this lesson the hard way. So did the Japanese.
