You are completely right. In an effort to drive the Somali population out of the towns surrounding dire dawa.
The Afar militia attacked Shinile region with the help of the ENDF while the elders chose not to take part in the fighting in the north.
Why would a Somali liyu battle to protect Gondar? And, let's be clear, this war was initiated by Amhara elites with Shabia's support to rule Ethiopia and oppress the rest of the population, so I'm happy Weyane are fighting to challenge this supremacy.
