Newcastle takes Alexander Isak, after presenting an irrefutable offer to Real Sociedad. The txuri urdin club thus loses one of its most important assets, seven days before the transfer market ends. The Swedish striker leaves, transferred to the English Newcastle for an amount of 70 million euros, thus becoming the most expensive sale in the history of Real Sociedad. In addition, the figure could be increased to 75 million because there are five million more in variables; while 10% of a future sale is reserved. It was impossible, to take "no" for an answer.

Newcastle have been after Isak all summer and have made a formal offer for the Swede. La Real has agreed to accept it, considering it round for its interests. The club will go to the market to reinforce the forward, since it only has Jon Karrikaburu as an available forward after the injury of Carlos Fernández. The 'magpies', despite everything, had Portuguese Joao Pedro from Watford on their radar; although they ruled out his arrival.

Isak's fourth year at Real Sociedad

Alexander Isak is leaving, after beginning his fourth season as a Real Sociedad player. The striker arrived from Borussia Dortmund in the 18/19 season in an operation that finally cost 10 million euros, so Real Sociedad recovered the investment in an absolutely brilliant way. Isak becomes the best signing and obviously the most profitable in the club's history.

In the main floor of Anoeta they are already working to incorporate a substitute for Isak with seven days to go, until the market closes. As of today and for Saturday's match against Elche, Imanol only has Jon Karrikaburu available as a center forward, since Carlos Fernández is injured and will be KO for almost two months. Take Kubo and Mohamed Ali Cho can play at any given time out of nine, although the first alternative should be homegrown Karrikaburu.

President Jokin Aperribay and sports director Roberto Olabe have been warning in recent weeks that "the market is a living being", and with the arrival of money from a Saudi fund, Newcastle has finished bursting the market. It should be remembered that one of the best strikers in the world, Erling Braut Haaland, has joined Manchester City after the English paid 60 million to Dortmund, ten million euros less than Alexander Isak.

PS: Alex becomes the most expensive Swedish player of all time, too. Previously, Zlatan Ibrahimovic's transfer to FC Barcelona from Inter in 2009 topped the list. That deal has been valued at €71,5 million but then Samuel Eto'o also went in the opposite direction (swapped places with Zlatan & went to Inter)

Great news! I was impressed by Newcastle recent performance against City. I have now more reasons to watch them more closely.
