Some tribally motivated individuals often make instinctive political judgment that tribal federation structure with a prime minister being the leadership is better. However, experiences from the last 31 years very well proved these "PMs" have been worse than absolute monarchical kings or queens. The PM literally monopolizes power and paralyzed every structure of the country. Interestingly, these tribal based PM are unelected by the broad mass of the national population, none of them have legitimacy to rule the country. They neither can claim elected by the popular vote nor by the divine power. For instance, look at Abiy Ahmed, he controls everything under the sky worse than Absolute monarchy: he can kill, arrest, harass, sell off any national asset, willingly or unwillingly commit treasons to advance his own political gains( such as Al Fasqa), etc. These are front seat holder of tribal rebels such as OLF or TPLF. When the nation is unhappy with their performance there is no legal means or structure to remove than other than by revolt and gun. Ethiopians deserve a leader whom they elected not imposed upon them, Ethiopians deserve a constitution on which they engaged, participated, discussed and agreed upon, Ethiopians deserve provincial system which enhances economic growth, effective civil service administration, promote peace, harmony and safer community.

Your idea is commendable but I doubt it it will ever happen. Not in the near future.
What transpired in today’s Ethiopia is a tribal quagmire. It has been like that for 6 decades.
You may say our society is backward, but it is the learned man instigating crisis after crisis.

This will consume the next generation like a wild fire. Until the locals rise up and get rid off the ethnic warlords.

No body can beat the objective truth. The only gateway to good governance and sovereign nation of peace is where every citizen got the chance to elect his/her president in a nation-wide presidential contest according to a shared Democratic Constitution across optimum number of non-ethnic based provinces.
As you said, this will Take Time and cut more innocent lives short. However, those who are blessed will see that day of voting their own president. Till that happens, absolute tribe base PM will keep slaughtering people like their own sheep.
