Putin in Africa, in the 1970's:

Sorry to disappoint you, as I'm going to expose the falseness of what the above picture is claiming, which is a pure fabrication!

The only country in sub-Saharan Africa Putin has visited to date is South Africa, and that was in 2006. needless to add that he has never set foot in Tanzania.

The picture says that Putin stayed in Tanzania from 1973 till 1977. But Putin was studying at the Leningrad State University at the time, and graduated in 1975, therefore, this proves that such claim is totally false.

The white person appearing in the photo was another (senior) Soviet official serving in southern Africa, and the similarities are pure coincidence. In addition, the boots worn by the white man indicate the person is a military man, while Mr Putin was an intelligence officer.

Moreover, Mr Mnangagwa could not have been in Tanzania in 1973, as he was arrested in 1965 and imprisoned for 10 years by the white-minority government of the then Southern Rhodesia.

Furthermore, the training offered to Mozambican freedom fighters in camps in Tanzania during those days was conducted by Chinese instructors and not the Soviets.

In conclusion, there is no evidence whatsoever either from Russian or African records of Mr Putin, who was born in 1952, having been to the continent during the 1970s.

A lie is a lie even if everyone believes it.
