I never knew that you can use Ethiopian Birr in Djibouti. You can pay with it or exchange it everywhere. In the above video, you can see (from 3:00) the YouTuber telling that she paid the Covid test fee with Ethiopian Birr.

Following is a video showing how foreign currency, including Ethiopian Birr, is exchanged everywhere on the streets in Djibouti. We should learn something from this. Open up, legalize currency exchange, let people open foreign currency bank accounts etc. Encourage and not discourage the flow of foreign currency into the country. Our current regulation is so stupid and encourages foreign currency flight out of the country to the extent that now possessing 100 dollars is considered illegal. The stupidity is beyond imagination. Such a dumb regulation! We should learn something from our neighbors.
