I applaud the author for his courage in writing the book when it is uncomfortable, unpopular, and even dangerous to speak the truth about the events of the past 70 years. It could be said that the deeply rooted Eritrean culture of compassion expressed with kindness for the Ethiopian POW has won not only the war, but the hearts and minds of countless Ethiopians who were victims of state-sponsored lies, deception, and massive disinformation campaign against the people and nation of Eritrea.

An Ethiopian prisoner of war, who at the time of his capture was illiterate, but was able to complete grade 7 education at the time of his release, is a testament to the universal moral principle Eritrea has championed against overwhelming odds. Eritreans are indeed a glimpse of what Africa could be if we all work together towards a better future.

During the dark times when the world lined up against Ethiopia due to GERD, Eritrea and Eritreans stood by Ethiopia and still standing shoulder to shoulder. It is in our DNA to die for the right causes. No power under the sun deter us from this belief.

Proud to be born from these noble and principled people!!

Congratulations to the writer for complete his book and I thank him for his honest testimony.

In the late 1980's, the Ethiopian prisoners' of war in EPLF hands established a committee, headed by a Colonel whose name I have forgotten, to lobby the international community and the Red Cross to recognize them as legitimate POWs. The committee toured many western countries. It was extraordinary that all the members of the committee returned to Eritrea. Not a single member decided to seek refuge in the USA or Canada. For me, that extraordinary episode encapsulates how the POWs viewed their captors.

It should be noted that, the TPLF terrorist group used to openly criticize the EPLF for its humane treatment of Ethiopian prisoners of war in accordance with the Geneva Convention. It's not difficult to see how the TPLF terrorist group treated POWs.
