What makes Eritrea unique?
The Eritrean farmer has never been dispossessed of his means of livelihood, his land. This is what makes Eritrea unique in the world. I don't think there are many countries who can claim this, nether England nor China definitely, where the farmer was utterly dispossessed by his feudal lord.
For the past 700 years and beyond, the Eritrean farmer has owned his piece of land, which was never taken from him by anybody, not Turkey, Italy, or Ethiopia during the brief occupation. There were disruptions here and there, by Kassa Mircha, Wube Mare, Alula Engida to name but a few, but they never lasted long, and never had impact on land ownership.
In this regard, Ethiopia came of age with the Meriet Larashu movement, and I don't know how far the Meriet Larashu movement went in restoring to the Ethiopian farmer his God given pride. These differences create differences in mentality, for sure.

Read your history correctly. Wedi medhin berad tried to interfere and ordered farmers of the highland what seeds to cultivate, but like any thing else which is touched by him, it was a disaster. furthermore, you need to make research in which part of the Eritrea feudalism was practiced, the terms serf which was mostly practiced in Tigray and Amhara was also prated in Seraye, serf is a term similar to be a slave of a landlord/feudal. having ጤሳ is a testimony that you are a full-blooded citizen bound to bow to no one and you have no other lord except the almighty.

We're talking about Grand Scale things that form cultures, and you and your small mind are talking about exceptions to the rule. About pockets small scale feudalism here and there in Eritrea.
Other than that, what feudalism are you otherwise talking about in Eritrea? Do you have people who owned whole provinces like they did in your favourite country England? Did your azmatch Tessama Asberom, that you like call ra'esi to imitate the British own any swathe of land anywhere in Eritrea? Can you give me a name of a single person in Seraye who owned more than three people's land? ጨናዊት
Now, get out of here, ብጀካኺ ኤዱ ትንዕቆ ሰብ ርእየ ኣይፈልጥየ, so I'll sick my dogg Edu on you if you decide to linger here

In regard to your "Habes qedes". Under the leadership of the junk, you can't even build "Hedmo" in the country side because they were forbidden by the beloved leader and here you are telling us that Eritrea is unique. We are unique because Eritrea under our beloved leader Kim Jong un, we can't even change the color of the facade of the building we live in because it is forbidden.

I just came back to teach you few things. Eritrea's biggest achievement is not that we have alphabet like Tesfazion is telling you. Or that there are two or three obelisks in Metera that Sarcasm claims belong to Axum. Eritrea's greatest achievement is the Eritrean character, which is the result of 700 years of uninterrupted communal un-lorded livelihood.
Dottie, get him if he shows his ድኻ face again!

Eritrea is not 700 years old country?
Re: What makes Eritrea unique?
Eritrea is not 700 years old country?
You show your stupidity with this comment He is talking about the people of Eritrea. The land has been there since God created the universe and the people certainly over 700 years. It is not some new settlers who have created the nation state called Eritrea. This is so elementary.
Justo, there is another major factor which has played a huge role in shaping Eritrea's character. Our forefathers were not perennially fighting "little useless wars" that the Abyssinians South of the Mereb were doing. With the exception of the few forays of Tigrayans bandits into Eritrea, the Eritrean villagers lived a peaceful life that allowed them to develop their values, laws and culture. Tigrayans and their Agew and Amhara neighbors were engaged in constant warfare for hundreds of years. That is why Tigrayan culture is really focked up. All the negative characteristics we attribute to them, theft, back-stabbing, lying, boasting are the outcome of millennia of misery and uncertainty. If your survival depends on these traits, then you will develop them.
Re: What makes Eritrea unique?
You see Sesame, that is the beauty of the Eritrean system, everybody owned his piece of land and there was no reason for anybody to fight any other body. Tell me which other country can claim such stable system of ownership that disenfranchises nobody? Tell me which other country can claim such total absence of strife and war between the communities and religions? Not England nor China, for sure!sesame wrote: ↑02 Apr 2022, 22:15Eritrea is not 700 years old country?
