This is the worst military adventure. I thought Putin is somehow a rational person, well-informed about world politics. It turns out he is everything but that.

"Well- informed about world politics"? What does that mean?
To let NATO run roughshod, in his neighbourhood?

Dilma Rousseff says war in Ukraine paves way for multipolar world

(Prensa Latina) Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff (2011-2016) on Friday said that the war in Ukraine paves the way for the assertion of the multipolar world.
Interviewed by TV 247, Rousseff claimed that the logic of the unipolar world (with US hegemony) is over, and, with this conflict, Russia had no choice but to make itself heard, but now would be the time to return to the negotiating table.
She noted that the genius of diplomacy is to make neither side look like a loser.
She recalled that this Eastern European country was the victim of a coup led by the US administration of Barack Obama, in one of the first successful cases of hybrid warfare.
Unfortunately, she said, the same process of hybrid warfare took place in Brazil and overthrew her government in 2016 and created an unprecedented institutional crisis in the country.
Finally, Rousseff said that a multipolar world will be great for Brazil, especially if Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva (favorite in the polls for the October general election) is elected president.
Regarding the war conflict in Ukraine, Lula regretted on Twitter that, in the 21st century, countries continue to solve their problems on the battlefield instead of at the negotiating table, and called for dialogue to solve the crisis.

Re: They thought, it was gonna be a cakewalk.
Thanks Zmeselo for sharing (after digging it out wherever you found it).
I think the former president of Brazil got it right on the spot.
I am also wondering why Sam Ebalalehu keeps missing the real issue at hand here. He is someone whom I assume can think rationally and make a sound judgment in other issues I read him on this forum.
This war is not about Ukraine, it is also not about Russia, it is about the world order (and how the world affairs need to be managed in the future), in my little understanding.
The two nations happened to find themselves on the front lines of the true war, it is costly on both sides. At the end Russia has got nothing to regret in my view. It stood up for what it believes in (it is not alone in it) where and when it mattered and its position has been clear from the get go, at least in my view again.
There is a saying in Afan Oromo which goes like "dubbii barbaadduun dallaa qee namaa dhuftee kuboota funanti" (which is a sort of saying "a quarrelsome person comes to the surroundings of your fences and starts to collect a dried manure" (which is commonly used for energy generation, like for coocking, as an example).
If this saying has got any truth in it, then there is a wisdom in it in trying to understand the true affairs of this war and Russia will be vindicated by it.
People need to turn to our forefathers' age old wisdom to resettle the issue here.

That means Zemelso USSR has been dead for three decades and to live with that nostalgia is counterproductive.
Re: They thought, it was gonna be a cakewalk.
The USSR being dead, doesn't mean one has to seek slavery somewhere else.
He's against the globalists & I applaud him for that & wish him all the success.
The dumbest VP in US history:

Zemelso of all the people I wouldn’t have imagined you oppose the Ukrainians’ desire to live as they wish. Putin’s desire to put a puppet government which answers to Kremlin you should have opposed it with vigilance. Do not forget there is no Warsaw anymore to counteract NATO. Whether you like it or not it is a one world system. I take that back. If there is any counter to NATO indeed it is China. As for the Russian military do not keep your hope high.
Re: They thought, it was gonna be a cakewalk.
There is no such thing as absolute freedom or absolute right, my friend. Your freedom can only be maintained by placing constraints on others'. Ukraine's right 'to live as it wishes' should be respected as long as it doesn't infringe on others right to live as such. Sudan's right to 'live as it wishes' shouldn't include the idea of hosting Egypt's deadly weapons and troops aiming at Ethiopa's direction. And if you wouldn't like that, well.....Sam Ebalalehu wrote: ↑14 Mar 2022, 14:46Zemelso of all the people I wouldn’t have imagined you oppose the Ukrainians’ desire to live as they wish. And that is the same kind of dilemma Russia has found itself in!
