His tone towards his own people is not what it used to be. Tamrat can discover himself and start to love his own if he uses his time in prison to reflect and understand his inside and what his upbringing away from his folks did to him.
Aster is like zemeselo guy lurking here on this forum. She hates her own heritage deeply. The Oromos should help her, not hate her. She can be redeemed to love her own and still love all people. She can be like me. She doesn't have to be like zemeselo, deqi Arawit, Fiametaw, justo etc etc. One doesn't have to hate self to prove love for others. You don't even have to feel others are others.
What is wrong with Aster, Ermias and Tamrat is kindda what happened to my own Tigrigna speaking folks. The colonial experience has left us with self hate. We hamsen akeleguzai seraye folks are Tigre (amharic for Tigraway or Tegaru) but many of us hate Tigre . What happened to us? Colonization!
We have been running away from Tigreness for long. This phenomenon never existed before we went through colonization. DeqiArawit's self hate was not exhibited by his forefathers. They saw themselves as proud Tigre just like the folks today in axum adwa mekelle feel proud Tigre. Even those most enlightened among us like Professor Asmerom and Ambassador Sofia run away from Tigreness all their lives. Colonization is that strong and unshakable to most even after it ends. It's so strong, my folks invented another term for identity, Tigrigna, to replace Tigre.
50 years of colonization my friend. My own immediate family is not immune to this although nothing to the level of others we see here on this forum. These are irredeemable. They will hate their own till the end. Colonialism (or assimilation) does that and it's unfortunate.
please take your time and just listen to Abebech in the following video, she is exceptionally sharp today in her analysis, I don't know if she took some thing for this.
Human evolution took over 4 Billions of years, when their thinking paradigm was developed to what it is today. Yours started just before few decades, still you dare to dictate your infant thinking pattern to the ages old one, what a world we live in?
