General Bacha Debele is hinting to that. There is no free lunch, young Ethiopians, catch the opportunity. Keep the country!

Having a National Service Program empowers the youth with essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, self sufficiency, integrity, responsibility, and discipline. It is often said that, the wealth of a nation depends upon the mind power and creative power of its people. Lets do it! I'm all for it! 8)

If it is done right, national service could become a huge asset for a country. With our very bad memory about Derg's national military service in which no one wanted to join and had to be forced, it is important to plan it carefully and do it right this time. Otherwise it could become a burden for both the government and the youth. We need good preparations, a clear law that is implemented forcefully and a very good image of ENDF that many young people are eager to join and serve. Those who served the army should also be given special opportunities after their military service. National service if not done right could also bring a risk with it. It could even kill the current spirit of those who are currently joining the army voluntarily in droves and we may end up with even less recruits than before. So it is not always automatically a win to have a national service and it could be a lose at the end if it is not done right. That is why it needs a good legal basis and detailed preparation.

Overall the idea is good and necessary in my view!

Given the diehard external and internal enemies of Ethiopia, it is absolutely necessary that National service gets instituted. The two components that is essential for the survival of Ethiopia as a nation will be a truly democratic institutions and strong national defense force. National Military service where the youth from all corners of Ethiopia gets to be trained as national army instead of "killel " army create a sense of Ethiopian Nationalism more than anything else, effectively fracturing the weyane brick wall that has been built for the past 30 years. Not only that the Ethiopian youth will be a ready fighting force to defend its country but also it will be a disciplined working force to build his/ her country . In anyway one looks at it -- It is all positive to have a national service. General Balcha and Abiy go for it, it will be one of the antidotes forwhat ills Ethiopia.

Diaspora stooges could celebrate "National Service" while enjoying their humberger and enjoying the liberty of the Western democracies. It looks like shaebia crab mentality is seeping into the gullible diaspora. Instead, you should learn from the failed Singapoor aka the North Korea of Africa and support the poor youngsters to live free from fascist demigods lest you end up the No.1 Refugee producer

Easy for stooges to say enjoying the freedoms of the West knowing they don't have to do "National service". I'm sure Birhanu Nega and his fellow stooge were inspired by this countries listed below and not by North Korea of Africa. Let's see what kind of National slavery they are proposing for the poor youth of Ethiopia. Menghistu had his communist inspired national service program as well, didn he not?

Instade of arguing about the merit and demerits of National service, you are gambling up Iissayas and Berhanu and use North Korea as scarecrow to argue against National service. Did you see how many democratic countries have National service. Why Ethopia's deadly enemy Egypt would have a National service but Ethiopia. Leaving your Issays paranoia aside ,Ethiopia designs its National servic according its unique needs and situation..if there is something that should be learned from derg era or Issya's Eritra we take the good and discard the bad. But National service for Ethiopia is a must.

Thanks to woyane we now know nothing is for granted, Ethiopia needs a defense as strong as iron, the pig (your pig) should know about what he is up to, when he go out and start parroting about dismantling Ethiopia.

The more we pay price for our country, the more it will be cemented more together and the share of the youth is huge here.

What price is diaspora stooge like you gonna pay? Miss a few humbergers a week? The poor peasants' sons and daughters are paying a heavy price while stooges cheer the death and destruction after decades of prosperity and relative peace.
You want to create another Singapoor in Africa? You're on the right track. You're better off looking towards Kenyan National service program and try to emulate a civilized system.

The good thing about you is that you don't understand what a shame is. Someone with a bit of integrity would shame himself and disappear from the public view in your situation.

Just before a month or so you were readying to party in Addis (Finfinne) and celebrate your ambition of dismantling Ethiopia and now telling me about "the poor peasants sons and daughters are paying a heavy price"? Why did it happen to you so late? Whose price were you using to enter Finfinne back then?

You go ahead and celebrate like you did back in December 2020, only to have your back against the wall in few months. You're now exhausting all your resources to be finally done away with in a few months. You don't have a prayer, stooge, let alone recruit and train/conscript "national service"to fight against the seasoned veterans. You and your despotic comrad to the north are awaiting your final days.
But, don't worry. Your adopted country will keep those humbergers available for and Birhanu Nega et al.
