Re: So-Called AP Egyptian Agents
I thought Ethiopia is a sovereign nation that can also, among others, issue decrees to administer its affairs and deal with all challenges the nation faces at a given time, according to the need of the country and its people, independently, like many other sovereign nations around the world would do.
If this is true to some degree, then how is the entity known as CPJ feeling itself entitled to accuse the Ethioian Government for arresting journalists on a "baseless" charges.
At the same time it also admits that
Or, is the entity telling us the decree is "baseless", for whatever reason? I couldn't read its position on these points.
According to the police statement I listened to on the internet the journalist traveled to rural areas and contacted a terrorist group and collected information from the entity and disseminated that information (terrorist propaganda) to an international media outlets, which are mostly hell-bent on propagating false narrative about the country, including the capital city will fall to the rebels within days or weeks, already before a month by now.
Did CPJ say a word when such blatant false narrative were disseminated across the globe in the name of press freedom?
Or, does a country shouldn't have an option to defend itself against such destructive propaganda, according to CPJ?

Did the claimed journalists flout the part of the decree the CPJ itself cited? At the end of November, Ethiopia announced new state of emergency rules banning the sharing of non-official information about military movements and battlefield outcomes, an order that was seen as an attempt to further restrict media reporting on the war.

This is the same old paradigm framed by US and European powers where the West is the final depository of truth and paradigm of human history. This is now all rejected. The so called Greek rooted political philosophy, western notions of humanity etc are now being challenged. Absolutely, who gave any of the media business the superior right in the affairs of any other country? This is the question we must sink into their skulls. I call it the colonial habit which is collapsing on all fronts.
The first front is the truth front. Western media are nothing but fake news, bad news, so-called breaking news, too much news, echo chamber, deep fake news and post-truth fabrications. Western news is simply business enterprise and that is how we should treat these so call journalist.
The 2nd front of collapse is of course that these news businesses are agents of imperialism and global control of Africa and other weak states. They are glorified spies .

Horus,
let them propagate what ever they deemed good for them. The end will be decided by us, the stakeholders of our own country.
They should have shamed themselves by now, after their sensationalist news of Addis will fall within few days but that didn't came to happen anywhere in reality. They lack integrity to shame themselves, bad for them.
Ethiopia shouldn't get trapped anymore, by being dependent on others, we are now no more having this war alone in sight, we are looking at the post-war scenario. This could be an era, when we will make a miracle to happen. Just hold on the level of mobilization of the vast population of over 120 millions that we are seeing today around the world.
The PM was making a remark somewhere recently how Germany after the destruction of WWII not only rebounced quickly but also made a history that has now come to be known as the German Miracle. The war ended in the year 1945, after making the country to essentially an ash, but in the 1960s and 1970s Germany was making a miracle, raising from ashes again, that held the rest of the world in breathtaking.
During those decades Germany couldn't find any working force in its own territory and had to bring in working people, so called Gastarbeiter, from as far as counries like Greece, Turkey, Yugoslavia and others.
In the aftermath of the war and during the war, people there had nothing to eat, they eat anything that came their way, I heard this from an elderly man from that country at one point in the past.
Ethiopia is lucky, we have relatively a much better condition, our economy is relatively intact, doesn't take us to repeat the German miracle on the HoA as our own version.
Ethiopia can't and shouldn't be dependent on others anymore.
Until then, enjoy this music about Jimma, where people considered a place where they could pursue their dream (according to an oral story I heard as a child)

AP admits it was caught red-handed while violating the law of the country and then hiding it from the public the issue.
Shame is not in what makes you up.

What? She said the AP until now had chosen to keep the case out of the public eye while the news organization worked on potential diplomatic channels.
