Ethiopia´s prime minister says he will lead his country´s army “from the battlefront” beginning Tuesday.
“This is a time when leading a country with martyrdom is needed,” Abiy Ahmed said in a statement posted on social media Monday night.
“Let’s write history; let´s meet at the battlefront,” the prime Minister said.
Hs statement also claims that the West is trying to defeat Ethiopians.
The statement by the prime minister, a former soldier, does not say where exactly he will go Tuesday.
Prime Minister Abiy participated in the 1998-2000 Ethio-Eritrean war as a radio-operator.
The Nobel Peace Prize Committee, the US, and AU didn’t comment on the Prime Minister’s statement, yet.

On the other hand, envoys from the African Union and the U.S. have continued diplomatic efforts in pursuit of a ceasefire to the fighting and talks.
The US has continued calling for peace talks in Ethiopia. US envoy to the Horn, Jeffrey Feltman returned from Ethiopia over the weekend following meetings with senior Ethiopian government officials and African Union representatives, the US State Department said on Monday.
“We have continued to call for an end to the fighting. We have continued to call for the parties to engage in diplomacy in furtherance of a cessation of hostilities, just as we have reiterated the calls of the international community for an end to the human rights abuses and violations that we’ve seen,” State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters.
