The New US Policy On Africa

Post by Horus » 19 Nov 2021, 17:54

More of the same with some empty words added to it.
1. Peace & Security
2. Enhance Trade
3. Climate Change
4. Covid-193.
5. Promote democracy?

No the entire US policy in Africa is to do everything possible to kick China out, even at the cost of destroying nations like Ethiopia

I ask you this before and i got no response and i will ask you now, why is Abiy not kicking out the American Embassy or reject and deny visa Feltman? The well being of the nation should come before diplomacy or freaking Aid. Abiy is weak and coward.Do you think they will do that to Eritrea?

Zemen,
I can only give you my opinion. I don't know how Eritreans and Ethiopian leaders think. Ethiopia has over 5 million diaspora in the world and the largest one in USA. Level of contact, travel and interaction between the diaspora and motherland is huge. Economically, it could reach over 5 billion US$ per year. Moreover, American citizens are not enemies of Ethiopia; there are millions of Americans with good will toward Ethiopia. So, the short answer is this: every conflict needs to be kept at its scale! This is why diplomatic conflict is always [deleted]-for-tat and measured to its scale. In other words, each response is measured to the actions of the other party.

America is doing all of its activities mostly indirectly and with possibility of deniability of its actions. A nation as large as Ethiopia with a vision and potential becoming African leading country can't simply close its doors and walk away from global conflicts and isolate itself into irrelevance. Ethiopia has to engage in international affairs, conflicts, alliances, trade and other world Affairs.

Ethiopia is a nation with world stature and much soft power of history and culture. So, when America or any other imperialist country tries to bully us, the response is not to close embassies and isolate, but to build our own support and alliances to fight back the bully. This is exactly what every Ethiopian is doing and we are winning.

Believe me, Ethiopia will come out of this Ethio-American conflict as a shining example of African independence, respected and strong. There is little we gain by simply the shutting the embassy! Then what? Warring nations keep their embassies open. We can walk and chew gum at the same time- we can resist American bullying and keep the essentially non-functional embassy open.

If and when America invades us militarily like Iraq etc- that is when we will shut down the embassy and there is a consensus that it is unlikely if America wants a new military adventure in the wake of Afghanistan. I am not sure if this answers your question.
