Who is going to get hurt, Hilton or Eritrean Diaspora? This the most stupid form of protest. If Hilton boycotts it is the one that loses money. There are a dozen other Hotels and Halls where the event can take place. It shows rather how the oppositions are coward to face off debating in ideas. I guess this probably was not from Eritrean oppositions, but from TPL-Tigres who are famous street circus actors of Joe Biden UUUU.

As others have pointed out and most people are believing...the latest announcement of sanctions are just further indications of the desperation of the backers/handlers of the terrorist TPLF (aka the incompetent/belligerent Biden administration/advisers) after 2 weeks of going all out against Ethiopia.

First they launched economic sanctions targetting the average civilians(impacts Ethiopian women & their children the most), then they launched mass media assualt of various false news, then they tried to create mass hysteria by falsely implying that the Ethiopian capital is falling to rebels & govt will collapse, then further advising their US citizens & other nations to avoid travel to Ethiopia and even further to evacuate their citizens (this was meant to compound economic sanctions by interrupting the normal flow of businesses), then shuttling of shady envoys/diplomats (to gauge if the prior dirty tactics had an impact to coerce the Ethio govt into negotiation to their liking with their precious TPLF...it didn't since same shady envoys/diplomats returned to Ethiopia few days later under guise of other AU affairs but there are allegations it sought out other govt officials for a possible coup).

After seeing the 2 weeks attempt miserably fail & to their surprise seeing it had the opposite effect of mobilizing the Ethiopian people to rally in support of their Ethiopian govt/Abiy...and after being eerily silent on their media assualt after being exposed for various fake news (some like myself were also silently waiting for their next media ploy)...now in line with their desperation they announced latest sanctions. However the reality on the ground is that the terrorist TPLF is over extended and being routed and can't be saved by its enablers/handlers (aka the incompetent/belligerent Biden administration/advisers)...even further the real international community is supporting Ethiopian governments right to manage their own affairs without the misguided interventionism of US/Biden(and some of its lackey EU govts...who have their own ulterior motives of continuing economic colonialism in Africa).

Now to get back to this specific thread ...who are these groups you speak of Edu shukor?? My likely guess is they are sympathizers of the terrorist TPLF, if not actual TPLF wolves donning a different skin (did any of them come by way of the TPLF/UN co-sponsored refugee camps??). Further yet, where did all the TPLF supporters wailing in streets of foreign nations (US/EU) come from?? I have no doubts that the number of those officially registered as originating from Tigray region in nations of US/EU is far less than the mobs of Tigrays dramatically wailing on the streets of US/EU...meaning whose skin did TPLF/tigray wolves wear to attain asylum in foreign nations?

The organizer of this event should sue if cancelled and class action lawsuit for losses incurred for those attending. There are many that attend the meeting that will not be intimidated by TPLF shenanigans and would bring lawsuits. Would those calling for the cancellation be willing to register their names/city/address for equal query?? (or like most terrorist TPLF bandits use the name of their children as a shield )??

Edu shukor you & TPLF wolves are prematurely salivating for you intent to impede the free assembly of law abiding 9-to-5 citizens...which you have been attempting for decades and Eritreans(and Ethiopians) will not be intimidated by TPLF elements abroad. Hilton Hotels hosting event for group accused of committing crimes against humanity. Eritrean Americans are urging Hilton Hotel to cancel an event it is hosting for representatives of one of the most brutal dictatorships in the world, the PFDJ, Eritrea’s ruling party. The event is set to take place at the Hilton Houston Westchase this Saturday November 13, 2021 at 2pm.

PFDJ hosts various events in support of, and as propaganda for, the brutal dictator of Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki, who has been in power for over 30 years. During his reign, the dictator has imprisoned thousands of citizens including journalists, students, artists, politicians, religious leaders, the youth and the elderly. Eritrea is now the only African country without a constitution, a parliament, or a private press. Eritrea is the only country that has experienced mass exodus due to indefinite conscription of youth into national service, also known as “national slavery.” According to Global Slavery Index, there are 451,000 Eritreans living in Eritrea under modern slavery.

The full list of abuses is horrific, including widespread and systematic enslavement and sexual abuse of girls as young as 17 years old. The UN Commission of Inquiry concluded that “there are reasonable grounds to believe that crimes against humanity have been committed in Eritrea since 1991” because of the dictatorship’s policy of “arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, torture, killings, sexual and gender-based violence, discrimination on the basis of religion and ethnicity, and reprisals for the alleged conduct of family members.”

Eritrean Americans point to Hilton’s robust Human Rights Policy Statement to encourage all of their properties to “conduct business operations in a manner that respects human rights.” Hilton’s Social Impact dedication on their website further states “we are committed to fostering respect for human rights for all.”

Hilton is also a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact vowing to abide by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Eritrean Americans are urging Hilton Hotels to abide by their above commitments to human rights and reject complicity in the activities of the dictatorial group. They call on Hilton hotels to immediately cancel the event being held by the same group the UN has accused of committing crimes against humanity in Eritrea.
