In the last few days, Issaias Afewerki's well known mental illness, so far non-diagnosed syndrome, is hitting the peak. He is becoming more aggressive and abusive to his subordinates as he is often prone to under mental distress. Every person who was once working in his presidential office in Asmara remembers the day the Minister of Information, the Jeberti Ali Abdu Yonous, was beaten and assaulted very hard by Issaias. Ali Abdu was lucky; he was saved by the secretary who cried and begged to Issaias to spare the minister.
After attending an emergency meeting in Asmara and giving new orders to Yemane Monkey, Filipos W/Yohanes, Abraha Kassa and Hagos Kisha, the president drove to his usual seclusion and hide out place in Adi Halo. The events in the last few days has made him wonder; Why? Why? Why me?
Why does everything I touch break down? Why? :-
It was only few years back we started a good relationship with PM Abiy Ahmed Ali and Ethiopia. PM Abiy was able to win the Nobel Peace Prize because of my efforts and hard work. I am glad he was recognized but this does not make me sad. Later, both of us worked hard to destroy the Woyanies and I helped him a lot but as soon as I tried to touch and help Ethiopia, it started to crumble like a house of cards with many loses to me but why?
First, it was the whole Eritrea that broke down to nothing under my administration. Every advanced business, industry and factory that was running smooth and profitable under emperor Haile Selassie very well is gone and closed down but why?
The ports of Assab and Massawa look like dilapidated ghost towns under my adminstration. The golden years when the ports were crowded and teemed by commercial ships is long gone but nothing now, why?
Here from Eritrea, under the emperor, even under Mengistu era, we used to export agricultural products, edible oil, meat, canned food, fruits and vegetables, leather products, textiles, shoes, alcohol, gum, fish, sea salt, ... to Europe and the Middle East but nothing under my Eritrean government administration but why?
In the last 30 years, we had war against Yemen, Sudan and Djibouti, and twice against the Woyanies but we lost them all, and we are losing this one big time in 2021 too. Why? Why?
In many African nations, including Tigray, the population is exploding but here in Eritrea, we are the only nation in Africa with declining population, why?
We are backward and last in everything but number one in exporting young Eritrean refugees to Ethiopia, Sudan, Europe and to the slavery of the savage Arabs but why?
In Eritrea, we built more than 370 jails, prisons, dungeons and torture houses all over Eritrea in the last 30 years. The emperor had only 25 and Mengistu had 50 each but still more and more young Eritreans hate me and would not submit to my regime, in fact tens of thousands abandon me every year to leave Eritrea for good but why?
We trained and armed every young Eritrean man and christian women (Muslim women are not subjected) for an indefinite national military service in Sawa and many other camps but we only created a feeble and weak national army but why?
We tried to create and reorganize a national airlines three times and we lost hundreds of millions of dollars, and we abandoned it. We tried to create a large fleet of national commercial shipping lines and we lost lots of money, and sold the ships to the Egyptians and Yemenis for peanuts because we do not know how to run a shipping line. The emperor, the Dergue and even the Woyanies were more successful and profitable than us but why do we fail? why?
Under the emperor and the Dergue, Eritrean schools and students were the most successful in the Horn of Africa but once we came to power every educational endeavor we started crumbled in our hands, and the only university we had received from Mengistu is closed down but why?
I forgot to mention, we are still number one in Africa in bicycle race and in the number of political prisoners and journalists we held. Could that be a Mekakasha?
Last but not least, to be closer to the Arabs we made Arabic (used by less 1% of Eritrean Arab Rashayda of only 2000 wandering nomads Eritrea to Sudan) to become official Eritrean language and identity, to be closer to the Arabs by burning our own languages, identity and history but more and more Arabs hate us so much, they see us as their sex slaves, human organ "factories" for their kidneys, cornea, knee caps, heart valves and liver but why?
