Amharic is not a problem. It is the lingua franca of 110 million people. It helps people from different corners of the country to communicate. The problem is a political ideology that does not respect autonomy and self-rule and differences. Abyssinia / the Ethiopian Empire has always been a federalist arrangement.
The Neguse Negest system is a federalist system where the Neguses have autonomy on their territories and pay taxes to the Neguse Negest (federal government). The Neguse Negest looks after common defense and international relations. Actually, it looks like it was HSI who ended the federalist system when he fired the Neguses but still kept the Neguse Negest title. He introduced a centralized state system into a country that has always been a federalist structure. Mengistu continued the madness of unitary state which resulted in Eritrea's independence.
The Isaias, Abiy & Amhara Elite alliance have plunged the country into another bloody war after 30 year in order to re-install a centralized / unitary state system.

Eden only one thing you got it right. Amharic is not the problem. About the federal system you have tried to lecture us I see many saying “weraj alle” for a reason. Still your understanding of federalism needs a lot to be sanitized. Abiy and his “ Amhara” elites, not to mention Isayes — I don’t know why he is included— are not hellbent to destroy federalism, assuming there is federalism to be saved.
Abiy and the majority of Ethiopians want federalism to exist. But that federalism is totally different the one you salivate having : a Tigray which is armed better than the federal government.
Yes, in Ethiopia federalism will be the way. What type of federalism that will be it is open to discussion.
But I believe the TPLF experience has given a lasting lesson : No region will be allowed to be armed as TPLF had been.
The federalism you love hating is on its way , Eden. Fasten your belt, and it might be a rough ride.

Amharic is the problem. It is primitive and has no unifying elements as the Amhara are primitive culturally. I think Geez and Tigrgina should be the national or working languages in Ethiopia.
