Lowlanderu Eden

Looking yourself in the hindsight, what do you say your status now vs 10 years ago. You only need to go back into the posts you were writing. How many agame soldiers Amharas killed? You go figure that out. But surely 10 years ago you were on top of a pedestal, at least interms of your superficial thinking. Now you fall from that and how sweet is that.? Amhara will is paying in blood and forget the $$$ since blood costs higher than $$$

Misraq,

You lost me there. Cost means not just money. The guest doesn't mean money.

This discussion is a must-watch for any Ethiopians who are interested in looking at solutions how the War on Tigray could / should end. His four scenarios (@ 1:42:20) of how the conflict should be resolved are a good start at looking in the future possible relationships.

I watch a lot of discussions on YouTube and all of the solutions suggested by the panelists have been scarily the same for the past 11 months. For example, look at the below discussion broadcasted by
Yegna Tv የኛ ቲቪ today. The interviewer asked the politician, "ህወሃቶች ይጥፉ ሲባል፤ እነሱ እስከሚጠፉ የሚጠፋው ሕዝብስ?" and tried to touch her emotions by explaining the predicaments of the soldiers. Her response was basically the standard Ethiopian mainstream answer ይለቁ! Ethiopians are suffering from group-think. A country of 110m people could not come up with 2/3 possible solutions for about a year!

Sarcasm,

Today, he was humble. He said he doesn't get the depth of all things Ethiopia. I think he should collaborate with great Ethiopian thinkers and work on policy recommendations for the region at large. I know Ethiopia has great thinkers but I don't see them publicly coming out to research and provide solutions. Those who come out are idiot savants. This is really sad.

I like how he articulated Ethiopia should own the problem specific to Tigray and solve it as a matter of Ethiopia's own question of peace. This is just brilliant result oriented way of seeing things.

Sarcasm,

What you call group think, he calls it communal blind spot. I think group think assumes society is thinking but blind spot says society is not even thinking.

Look how the above reacted. I think they are not engaged in group think but they are not even thinking. If they were, they would bring out their points of disagreements and post them. I think this is the underlying problem. The guest provokes you to think, yet folks are not responding by thinking and sharing their thoughts. The communal blind spot. I thought about this before but I never knew this was known and even has terminology.

I used to read Yosief Ghebrehiwet writings, I used to appreciate his multidimensional analysis of the Eritrean politics. Now he is knee-deep in Ethiopian politics his pro-weyanee one-sided analysis and his willingness to parrot and accentuating weyanes propaganda as an intellectual finding was very disappointing. The fist time I become doubtful of his intentions was when he became a contributor to the" Ethiopian peace studies" chaired by Aboy Sebhat Nega. so I was a bit confused given his "confessed stance against the dictatorial government of Eritrea" How he turns around to become a partner of weyane the most anti-democratic ethnic dictatorship government in Africa and he can prompt democracy in Eritrea. In this interview, he takes Weyanes propaganda as truth, and based on that he gives an uncalled of conclusion. He denies that Welkite and Humeras are Amhara lands that was taken by force, He vindicates weyanes from aggression and political miscalculations, He praises and encourages weyanes aggression to Amhara and Afar regions because that is how "weyans supposdly " get their weapons. But when Amharas respond in kind and protect themselves he considers them inhuman and are prone to Atrocities.

Eden,

Yosief showed his true color today. Oh my god!

He claimed Amhara was encouraged by Isaias/Eritrea and Abiy to liberate Wolkait Tsegede. He even criticized Ledetu for not siding with Woyane not to mention the rest of Ethiopian "elites". He even says TPLF cronies "Kemant liberation" is going to be a great factor. What a fool this "philosopher" is! "Ye Angaraw Felasfa! " - "የአንጋራው ፈላስፋ!

He completely ignores the over a million Abiy/ENDF built up as if it doesn't exist. These guys live in their own world. I hate to say, but, they're all doomed.

His analysis of Amhara people is like a typical hard core Woyane. I thought he was beyond that.

I understand History/politics is his hobby. His analysis on "Colonialism" is sound. His admission of not knowing Ethiopian politics deeply is at least a sign of honesty.

Does any body know what this guy does for a living? What he and no others talking about is, Eritrean leadership not staying stagnant; we all need to wake up and start recognizing that. On the other hand, Woyane is a dead bit. No new thought besides the 60s analysis.

What a dispiriting time listening to this interview! I was expecting a lot better from Yosief however, I am disappointed.

Having said that, I am forced to reconsider the full respect I had for Yosief's views regarding Shaebia/Eritrea. Now I see why many Eritreans are skeptical of him and few even denounce him out right.

I use to think pro Shaebia Eritreans were crazy; now many of us are acting and becoming like them. Are we all becoming one? Maybe Abiy/Isaias's relationship is for real? The hand writing is on the wall.
