This question come to my mind after I heard recently over the internet about Sadan Soddo (The Three Soddos), from which the late Ethiopian Patriot Dejach Balcha Safo is said to have been raised. I don't mean that I heard the expression for the first time at the occasion, I just got impressed more. The contribution of this exceptional national Hero, who fought 2 rounds of war against invading foreign aggression to our country. This is special by all standards. In one of the instances he decided to still fight for the country even when he had a row with the leaders of the country of that time.
Three is also considered one of the major milestone of human life. There is an expression in Afan Oromo, which goes like "let God allow you to reach the age and responsibilities of the three Sunsuma (an Afan Oromo term for the three supporting bars of cooking over an open fire, which is also ጉልቻ in Amharic), these set is put at roughly 120 degrees apart to perfectly support the object over it in a balance, evenly distributing the load over the support. This is very much skillful, in my view, may be a ground breaking innovation when the tool was used for the first time.
The saying is used to mean that you reach at an age of having a life partner and children, represented by 3.
Three also signifies the modern power structures of governments by means of control and balance, represented by the 3 branches of government (legislative, executive and judiciary).
A traditional stool (but not necessarily a chair) is with three legs as supporting bar.
If you are for three, then you will not get easily maneuvered like when you are for 2, as an example. The saying goes like it will be difficult to get 3 people along, the first number where balance by means of majority comes into play.
I just started wondering myself about this special number.

Re: What is in the number 3 (three)?
Biblical No 3 came first when God came to Abraham visually as 3 white breaded aged humanoid entities near his garden, and Abraham as he had been kind, he invited them home for a soft cool drink, but he noticed that they are too old to walk to his house so he carried one of them and sat them on a fine chair and noticed that already all three are in his house. He little bit confused cause he carried one but all three are home at the same time.
God is by nature a deceiver, trickster love to make fun of the damp human, I am sure he created human for that purpose in mind to play a trick. ,

A loser, it is not yet done for you. You are in it on your own free volition, bear it.

Re: What is in the number 3 (three)?
In fact I was thinking about the magical power of this number, how much that might have made a difference in our human lives. For example could you compare a family of three children with that with 2 or four as an instance and make your own impression?sebdoyeley wrote: ↑02 Sep 2021, 04:35Biblical No 3 came first when God came to Abraham visually as 3 white breaded aged humanoid entities near his garden, and Abraham as he had been kind, he invited them home for a cool drink, but he noticed that they are too old to walk to his house so he carried one of them and but in a fine chair and noticed that already all three are in his house. Could it be that a family with 3 might have been more "blessed" (example more successful in life) than the ones with another number of children.
The number of children you may get are more of a chance, even in the era of family planning, i guess, and so is also our life itself.
If you think humans are dumb, then that is also a blessing in disguise, I think. The first step to enlightenment must have been the awareness that people are ignorant and thriving to overcome it.
I remember a saying of one of my university professors "the more you know the more you realise that you know little". There is also a German saying, which goes like "man lernt nie aus" (you never stop learning).
But the problem with many of us is that we think to know already everything.

Re: What is in the number 3 (three)?
well, excuse me for sharing my fine piece of mind here. you didn't specify what do you mean by "what is in No 3?
you know brother Defend-the-truth, I am a very religious person, where ever I go I love to discuss and share my faith. I love God,
more importantly, he loves me.
before you stop cut me off from explaining about God, I was ready to preach to you and teach you, if you will, on whether God' is black or white, I am not racist but I am not going to sleep a good asleep knowing God is a white man. At the same time, it did not make me sleep easy under the Abousanjo looking God either. owwww
I got to go! remember we will finish this discussion.
