My appeal to give peace in Ethiopia a chance:

1. Hostilities must cease immediately.

2. Unrestricted humanitarian access must be guaranteed & public services re-established.

3. Conditions must be created to allow for an Ethiopian-led political dialogue to find a solution.

Why is Abiy asking African leaders to help him avoid political dialogue to find solutions to the country's problems? How could they help btw? Does he think Africans are allergic to dialogue like him? Why is he cashing in on political investment made by HSI, Mengistu, Meles and Hailemariam Desalegn on something lousy - avoiding dialogue?



"አሁን ከዲሞክራሲ ጥያቄ ኣልፈን ወደ ህልውና ጥያቄ ውስጥ የተዘፈቅነው፤ እሱንም ደግሞ ማስቀጠል ያልቻለው ለምንድነው ሲባል፤ ይሄ ለ50 ዓመት የሄደው የግፋ በለው እብደት ነው። ሰው የራሱን ቤት እያቃጠለ፤ የራሱን ወንድሞች እየገደለ፤ ኣገር እያወደመ ኣሸናፊ ነኝ የሚልበት ኣካሄድ ነው። 50 ዓመት ሄደንበታል፤ ኣልሰራም። እስቲ ቢያንስ፤ ንግግር በዶላር ኣይገዛምና እንደ ጥይትና እንደ ቦንብ፤ በጠረጴዛ ዙርያ እንቀመጥ። ቢያንስ ርካሽ ስለሆነ።

እኔ ተወያዩ የሚል ቃል እንደኛ የሚስፈራው ማሕበረሰብ ኣይቼ ኣላቅም። ምንድነው ይሄ ሁሉ ኩራት? ምንድነው ይሄ ሁሉ እብሪት? . . . ስለዚህ ቆም ብለን፤ ውይይቱን እንሞክረነው፤ ጦርነቱን እኮ ማንም ኣይወስድብንም። ጦርነቱ የትም ኣይሄድብንም፤ ነገም ከንገ ወዲያም የኛው ነው።

ጦርነቱ እኮ ለ፱ ወር ተደርጓል። በጦርነቱ የምንፈልገውን ኣላገኘንም። የኢትዮጵያ የህልውና ኣደጋ የመፍረስ ኣደጋ የሚለውን እስካሁን እየሰማን ነው። ከ 9 - 10 ወር በኃላ ሕወሓት ቀንሷል? ተዳክሟል?!

. . . እስቲ ለሰላም ዕድል እንስጥ። ጦርነቱ የትም ኣይሄድብንም፤ ነገም ከንገ ወዲያም የኛው ነው"
