The issue of border related contest is not unique between Amhara and Tigray, and we have active problems between Oromia and Somalia, Afar and Oromia , Amhara Gojjam and Benshangul, Amhara Shoua and Oromia etc. So what is the hidden main reason for the on going conflict between Tigray and Amhara?

The reason is political rivalry between Amhara and Tigray in thier respective ambition to dominate Ethiopia, the Amhara elities believe that this is the right time to destroy TPLF and emerge as dominant force in Ethiopia / the Horn Africa and for TPLF they are defending thier territory at the same time to resurrect thier dominance in Ethiopia and the Horn Africa. The Oromo elities understand very well the ambitions of Amhara and will not allow Amharas to dominate Ethiopia rather they prefer to co-dominate Ethiopia with and the Horn Africa with Tigray by establishing strategic alliance with Tigray which has smaller size of population and Oromos will have less risk of domination by Tigray compared to Amhara.
