Ethiopia has been dependent on the aid and assistance of European elites, whether it be in the form of arms or cash, since the time of Emperor Menelik-this is the bitter truth that many of my Ethiopian countrymen and women, either deny or are unaware of. So, I'm not surprised at today's events. It's not Abiy's fault, of course, it's something that existed before his ascension to power, and something that is out of his control. The country is in massive debt and a significant portion of the budget comes from aid-so the question is, where does the country go from here?!

We are witnessing how the neocons are running their tails in between their legs from Iraq and Afghanistan just this past weeks. They never were able to subjugate the will of the people for their unhinged greed. After trillions of dollars in war expenditure and so many lives and limbs lost, they just did evacuate. Ethiopians should draw the line and say firmly no. We should learn to live within our means and put some of the projects at the back burner for sometime.

Even if the Feds accept the 7 point Wishlist from TPLF at face, the US still will find some excuse to go after Ethiopia. The statement asserted by Blinken as if the UN has endorsed his position is just an illusion. However, it is now starkly clear that the US won't settle for anything less than a complete submission by the Abiy administration. We urge the PM to stand by his statement and declare that he ain't any bully's wand.
