-------------------------------------------------------------

  • PM Abiy: The Neocolonialists are using Tigray to exert political pressure on my government.

President Isaias: I suggest you withdraw your troops and watch what happens next.

PM Abiy: What will happen next?

President Isaias:The TPLF will consider the withdrawal of your troops as "victory", and it will embolden them to seek Tigray's secession without analyzing its consequences.

PM Abiy: What could be the consequences?

President Isaias: Let's take a trip down memory lane. Shall we? In 1982 the Derg regime withdrew its forces from Tigray and brought them to Eritrea as an enforcement to its fast depleting army fighting a losing war. The TPLF considered the absence of Ethiopian troops in Tigray as "victory" and declared Tigray's independence by cutting off all trade routes and communication with the rest of Ethiopia. The isolation took a heavy toll on the Tigray people and what happened next shocked the civilized world.

    PM Abiy: What happened?

President Isaias: Famine. By 1984 a Weyane made famine claimed the lives of over one million people in Tigray during the two years of isolation. The famine was very devastating to the people of Tigray, but for the TPLF it was an opportunity to get more weapons from their Ferenji masters who wanted them to replace the Derg regime, as opposed to declaring Tigray's independence. If all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail. Since the only thing the TPLF know is to create famine, then their wishes are their Ferenj masters' command.
:P
