The US has now realized that its policy on Ethiopia is not going anywhere. Being immature and new to the game, Bliken and company came with idiotic demands. How the foock do they expect to get the Amharas out of their ancestral homes in Welkait. The idiocy of the request has by now become clear to them. But they have made those demands and in order to save face, they might take some tepid and meaningless actions like impose visa restrictions. We remember the EU visa ban on Abraha Kassa and freezing his assets in Europe 
It is, as I said, a face-saving action. That is all.

I don't know if we people are really so much stupid and think about something like invade a country of over 100 million to safe a population of around 5 million of the same country, like you also eloquently put it here. If there is any precedence to such endeavor then I will be glad to be enlightened on it.
My modest instinct from the beginning was that countries have their own interest to pursue and always try to protect it and hope America is not different to this simple preposition. America has an interest and tries to look for how best to safeguard its interest. In this case being on the side of the TPLF seemed to them the better option to pursue the same goal, for whatever reason.
The goal justifies the means, or something like that is how the saying goes.
America has no time, will or resource to spend to protect the entity calling itself TPLF, which is known for its backstabbing nature on its erstwhile partner, as soon as there is a one which appeared to be a more paying bidder for their selfish and narrow goal. We can go and make a long list of the cases of TPLF's backstabbing practices since its inception as a liberation front from the mother land.
Here in the following video, which the presenter attributes to a "diplomatic source" the move of the current USA Administration with regard to the so called visa restriction and travel ban is being laid down bare as it is, and that shouldn't surprise anyone with a modest understanding of the reality of the world we all live in. If TPLF was known to be a strategist then it shouldn't have bought into such a killing mechanism of its own future and associate itself with the standpoint that will going to subdue and undermine the progress of its own region, and by extension also its own people, I guess.
