Egypt's concern has little to do with the filling of the Ethiopian dam, but with the sudden shift in the balance of regional power towards the coalition made up of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia, with a combined total population of well over 130 million people. The coalition inevitably taking full control of the Red Sea region has unnerved the Egyptian regime that is helplessly watching its geopolitical influence in Africa diminishing, for during the last 50 years, Egypt had distanced itself from Africans by aligning its interest with those countries of the Middle East. It's 11th hour attempts to buy influence in East Africa using its aid dollars, is a little too late to see any meaningful results.
