2 women of Eritrean descent contended for Netherlands parliament (Only in Eritrea are Eritreans unable to become MPs)

Post by sarcasm » 19 Mar 2021, 21:20

Something historic happened during the Dutch elections. Two young women of Eritrean descend contended for a seat at the parliament. Within one generation of diaspora Eritreans in Holland we’ve managed to fruit these magnificent fierce fighters. Lets celebrate our women and never forget they are beacons and defenders of our people.

Mikal Tseggai was the youngest member ever on the city council of The Hague. At the age of 26 she is allready a seasoned politician, writer and activist. Never afraid to stand up for whats right. And somehow she has a talent for singing as well. Mikal is part of the new generation leaders of the Labour Party in the Netherlands.

Milka Yemane is the forefront fighter for the plight of refugees. Relatively new in the political arena, but with an international and domestic NGO career she is a force to be reckoned with. Her gentle manners conquers hearts, but her debate skills will cut you in half if necessary. Milka is someone you will meet years later as a leader at a World Bank meeting and still greets you like she saw you yesterday.
