Much of what is reported here needs to be re-investigated and re-examined. The Western media seems to have fallen victim of TPLF's misinformation campaign that, despite going through tough times, continues to portray itself and its people as being victims of ethnic cleansing and revenge. The fact of the matter is that the war started because the TPLF attacked the national army without being provoked. Before that it illegally held an election which was postponed legally. It defied all federal accords to act as an independent region, as a de facto sovereign state. But most importantly, the land grab that it conducted for nearly thirty years at the expense of various regions (especially the Amhara region) is overlooked by most papers and is at the root of regional militias' involvement in the war. This is in no way to condone or justify the many cruel incidents that have taken place or continue to take place in the region, but to advise that there is always another side to the story that needs to be told at the same time.
